Go with RWD if you can find one. They are few and far between up north here. Weigh about 300lbs less and are a few tenths faster in the 1/4. The transmissions will also last longer in the RWD version. The only big things I know about as far as problems are the trans and rear end go out prematurely on a ton of trucks.
The oldest one you can buy is an 06' and if you buy it from a GM dealer, should be gm certified used, so you will have a warranty to cover anything that breaks.
Also, im not sure if the promotion is going on still, but I bought my truck with 100k mile powertrain warranty, 4.9% for 60mos, and $400 gas card. Added a bumper to bumper warranty to 100k miles for $15/month. Out the door for an 06', white, AWD, 3SS package minus the navigation, 20k miles, I paid about $20,500
