Popping noise in back of Expedition

Anyone have experience with Expeditions at all? It started last Friday morning that whenever we turn on the heat in the car, we're hearing a "popping" or "snapping" noise coming from the panel in the rear passenger side of the car. I can see there are ventilation slots back there, so I don't know if there is a pump back there to assist in air circulation or something and it went bad, or what is going on. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm thinking it's more mechanical sounding, and clicking rather than a popping noise...

Maybe it's a relay or switch. See if you can have someone turn the heat on while you are back there and try to track down the location.
