i need help!!!! gauge cluster question

i have an 03 gt... which i am converting into an 03 cobra well.... i just recently bought the 03 cobra gauge and well i installed it and tried to start my car... and it wouldnt start... well i put the old gauge back in and it started right up... then i put the other gauge back in ..... the car started but then died about 3 seconds later.... i need help.... what is going on?!?!

That's odd.

Have you tried just replacing the face instead of the whole thing?

May have something to do with the PATS system. The PCM, instrument panel and key all have to recognize and talk to each other before the cal will start.

You can turn the PATS off in the tune if you want.

Not sure of any other alternatives besides having Ford reflash the PCM.

agreed thats what it sounds like to me too...

I had the dash cluster replaced on my van and they told me it would be a couple days because they had to program it to match my PCM. That's probably the issue your having.

it's your secruity (pats) system. try talking to a dealer about programming the new cluster and old key.

ok... to all of you guys that have posted in here i want to thank you sooooo much!! haha i thought thats what it was because i had pulled the fuse on the PAT system and the car started but then died almost instintaneously.... but it has started tho! and wouldnt before... i will talk to a dealer.. thank you!

It only started w/the cobra cluster installed because there was still fuel in the rail from the previous start attempt w/the stock cluster installed. GL w/the transformation!
