went for a tune today

I went to speed inc for just a basic tune, found out my mass air flow sensor and both O2 sensors dont work.
One tech said i'll gain 50 hp by replacing them,does this sound right to you?

from a bad maf? i know you'll gain hp from that but the front o2.....i find that hard to believe.....unless your a/f was just utterly fucked up....50hp seems like a huge stretch

are your plugs gapped properly? get a scanner on it and make sure you're not knocking at all

how many miles on the car? 50hp is dubious at best...probably closer to 20hp though i doubt the car would have been running well at all with a bad maf and slow switching/dead O2's...

both are drivability issues for sure - as far as HP goes i wouldnt be surprised to see an extra 25 - maf reading is extremely important for the a/f ratio - o2 sensor is more for drivability, especially at part throttle.

Hmmm you would think that if the sensors were bad and not working, that the computer would go into limp mode, pull timing and fatten up the fuel.... not lean it out.

i agree with mirza, a bad maf will pretty much cause the car to barely run if its completely shot. no air flow detection means engine is lost what to do really. dont see how you would still be running

My dad bought a 96 Blazer a few years ago to resell, it would start up and then die a few seconds later, we found out it had a mad MAF.

i had a bad MAFF that read 0 mhz... my car ran... it was driveable, but i couldnt boost it.

i found i split wire on the passerger side o2,i replaced it but that was the only thing i found in my surching.

agreed - you should be way rich - or the sensor is reading enough to stay out of limp mode and be lean as hell - but it will run with bad maf - it will just run like shit!
