Nitto NT555 opinions

Anyone running these tires? How do you like them? Tread life, wet weather grip, noise, etc.

Just the regular 555? For street use?
I had them on my SS back in the day. Drove fine in wet and dry. Had enough grip for a stock auto ls1.
They lasted about 40k miles for me. Though I'm sure there are cheaper/better alternatives for that kind of tire.

Yeah that's what I was looking at. Or the BF Goodrich KDW 2's.

Go KDW2, the 555 is old technology.

I had the KDW's last season on the truck and broke them loose with ease..... but that was with a 235 series tire too bumping up to a 275 with the Saleen wheels.

The 555's will not be any better. The Saleens are fat fucking pigs so that might aid in you not spinning the tires as much. I loved the look of the wheels, but hated their weight. They made the car feel slow, which it was!

I hear nothing but good thing about them. With the ones that I had last year I couldn't really tell if they were good or not since the power of truck/size of tire ratio was incorrect.

x3. I chose the MT ET's over the nt05r's but they are a great compound. The Nt05r's I think are a little stickier than the NT05's, but they are both an excellent choices. I had the regular nt555's and they were alright, but not nearly as good as my MT's

I do not think he is looking for a drag radial, he wants a street radial.

NT-05 is a street tire geared towards handling....very grippy.

Yea I probably should get a set of tires this year.

It be nice to have good traction for handling on the street, and use the same tire to goto the track and hook out of the hole.

Cause I would like to roll through sharp corners without spinning out and I have a feeling if I got say 05rs that would happen... And unsure on the 555rs grippyness

Are the NT-05's good in the rain?

Not sure if the street tire is any better than the radial. From the pictures it looks almost exactly the same and maybe just a different compound but I will say that I was scared driving the car everytime I got caught in the rain.

From what I have read the NT-05 street radial is pretty good in the rain. I would say the KDW2 is great in the rain. I had them on my Saleens when I had them.

I had the 05R's on the GTO and they are pretty decent in the rain as long as you drive normal. They hooked like DRs with 20 PSI in them. I loved them on the strip. Once those were done with, I got the 555's. They were as good in the rain as the 05R's but didn't hook worth shit half the time. Loud, too.

Get the NT-05s. They just have a smaller contact patch, more siping, and a harder compound compared to the R compound.

I rocked 255/50-17's on my old sierra. They have softer compound than the NT555. I liked them a lot but they got to expensive for me. So I dropped to 15" rims and ran 295/50-15 Couldn't beat $87/ea, the perks of working at a tire place
