The VQ series are great engines. Strong, reliable, and sound sexy at WOT, even back to the VQ30DE. My G35 has 83K and runs great. People have easily gone 250-300K miles with general maintenance. ALOT of 4th gen maximas have over 300K on the original engine.

Good aftermarket, but as mentioned expensive. The VQ is tuned well from the factory, with decent factory intakes and exhausts. For the amount of money, some mods arent worth it but definitely can squeeze power out of a N/A VQ35/37.

very little gains for most of the NA mods. 5-10 for exhaust. another 10 MAYBE for headers....a few for the intake. i think the best bang for the buck is the plenum spacer, imo.

headers are NOT worth it for the invested time vs power given.

I haven't heard any complaints on them. I know one of the guys on Chicago Z has a 370z with a supercharger kit on it. A couple of other guys have just basic catbacks/intakes/plenum spacers etc.

I don't think they are that expensive to mod but maybe I am just used to it.

I know the motoiq guys just did an article about the AEM intake kit which got like 15hp and 10tq gain across the board.

I still love the way the 3.5 and 3.7 VQ's sound. Wish my 3.0 VQ would sound like that.

Two thumbs up. Those engines are really reliable. A good, cheap luxury alternative that's reliable and fun to drive. The G essentially rides on a modified Z platform and many suspension/wheel options are interchangeable among the various years.

both the autos and manuals in these cars are really good. Just be careful with the 6MT 05-07 G35s and 6MT 05-06 350Zs with the "rev-up" engine. Some of those engines have oil consumption issues.

The autos are solid and run similar times to the 6MT with a good driver. I know the jatco 5AT is shared with the Nissan Titan. The 7AT is actually geared quicker than the 6MT, but for the 370Z/G37 no doubt get the 6MT.
