Should I get a 2007 GXP?

I am looking to lower my monthly payment, insurance rates and expenses on my car. I currently have a 2007 C230 Sport. I am been eying a 07 GXP. It has 29K miles and priced at $16K.

My payment right now on my benz is $470 a month
trading in for the GXP it would drop to about 400$ ish. and of course lwoer insurance and maintance.

My question is is the 07 GXP with the v8 a decent car let alone something to last for another 5 years? I drive only about 80 miles a week.

both cars are in mid cond.

I was a previous owner of a 00 GTP and on the ILGPC before it merged.

any suggestions would be grateful!.

My 06 GXP was a pile of shit, that's why it was traded for a Honda. It seems the older Grand Prixs have better quality then the newer ones.

Mind you this is not my personal experience, but those cars aren't exactly known to be reliable.

I saw a nice white 05 GXP with some miles on it a while back. It was priced really nice at like $8500. It enticed me, but smug told me to stay away.

To be honest, after riding in a base 04+ GP I really like those. That's a good reliable car, still very luxurious, and much cheaper than a GXP.

Get a 04/05 gtp, we had one, 05 with 44k on it for 12k, heck of a lot of car for the money

$470 on an mb c230, its not even a kompressor is it?!

My GXP has already needed a water pump, steering rack, tie rod ends and something else by 30K. It just got worse with age and miles.

yea when i had my 00 GTP the fuel pump broke twice in a year.. but if i grab this 07 GXP i will have a 6 year warranty with it to.

I know a few people that sold cars UNDER WARRANTY because they had so many issues.

You will need the warranty. My extended warranty pumped over 8 grand into repair before I said to hell with this and traded it in.
Not to mention the oil consumption that the dealer could never fix. 1 quart every 1500 miles if ok right?

roomy and comfortable on the inside, no trunk though.

i'd stay away from any fwd v6 honda. their transmissions are trash piles, worse that a grand prix :rollpicard:

What about a 2004+ GTP? It's not going to have the transmission problems the GXP had. Really that was the only issue that was specific to the GXP other than some rotor/ pad issues.

I liked the one I drove... I liked it a lot. The power is a lot smoother than the GTP.

After 04 the issues were worked out. Another thing to consider is that service at a GM dealership is usually horrible and service at Honda was amazing

well if you take into account i am getting a 07 GXP with a 6 year bumper to bumper and powertrain warranty.. shoulndt any issues be covered that have been mentioned?

It's normal operating conditions since it's an LS engine.
