well id start at the switches...go around to each switch in turn and depress em and feel for "one of these things is not like the others"
look for signs of a door being shut onto a seat belt buckle/obvious damage.
if nothing obvious is found i would start at the drivers door switch (3 wires which also grounds a tan wire for the audible key in ignition dinger) and the cargo door switch as these are most often used on most of the suburbans ive worked on.
door switch removal, obviously disregard battery disconnecting as youll be wanting to see which switch (in turn) kills the lights when unplugged
REMOVAL PROCEDURE
CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Cautions and Notices.
- Disconnect the negative battery cable.
- Locate the door jamb switch. The switch is under the left side of the instrument panel.
- Squeeze together the tangs of the switch.
- Push the switch through the side of the instrument panel.
- Disconnect the electrical connector of the door jamb switch.
- Remove the door jamb switch.

- Unthread the switch from the vehicle. Remove the switch.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
