Not that long ago ALPHA 9 equipped Operation Agent Orange went up for sale. It was not on the market long and a lucky Chicago Resident snatched it up and QUICK! Upon delivery of the car the new owner had a ton of Audio and interior work done to the car. In addition he contacted us for a an ALPHA 10 conversion and a 93 octane tune.

The results were GREAT and I'll get to that in a minute for now lets walk you though some of he build pictures

The car was kept in pristine condition by the new owner and a really impressive Audio system and interior treatment was added to the car:

It's time to pull the engine. With an AMS 3.8 liter race motor already installed this new owner just needed our ALPHA 10 turbo kit along with some fuel system enhancements.

During the install we took the opportunity to test fit our new fuel rail kit for the GT-R. As the engineers promised it fit like a glove. More info on this product soon to come!

And now on to the dyno numbers. We knew the ALPHA 10 on the 3.8 was a great match. What really surprised us on this build was the amount of power and how fast this kit spools!!!!! on the street this car is making peak torque at right about 4000RPM! This is a mid 9 second capable street car in full street trim. I see a lot of cars come through here that I sit back and say "wow that would be one hell of a car to own" This setup officially tops that list!

Specs:

AMS ALPHA 10 turbo kit
AMS 3.8L non sleeved Shortblock
AMS/ Sheptrans ALPHA 6+ Transmission build (dodson super stock clutch)
AMS ALPHA 10 Fuel system with 1000cc injectors
AMS ALPHA induction kit
AMS Front mount intercooler
AMS 90mm non resonated midpipe
AMS 90mm racing exhuast
Kelford A spec cams with Ferrea springs and retainers
AMS MAF Sensors
AMS MAP Sensor
Cobb AP
Professionally tuned on 93 octane by Chris Black of AMS Performance

Final numbers:

843 Wheel horsepower
679 Ft Lbs of Torque

Based on a 15% drivetrain loss that puts the ALPHA 10 at nearly 1000HP at the engine on 93 octane!!!!!

If only I had a turbo for the GTO I could have a cool ass thread like this. One day.....

Congrats on the car. That is one amazing build.. I will love to see this having fun on the road one day.

That GTR looks amazing and would be awesome to see in person!

Larry can help you out with that turbo problem you have Marco! Tads car did great w/the parts and service from him!

Tads care did do very well. The couple bad things are that APS no longer makes their kit and also had turbo issues. The good is there are still a few kits out there and upgraded turbo's available. This would be the best route IMO for a GTO.

We could always do something custom :)

The customer requested that we also do a tune on race gas. The clutch currently in the not rated for much more torque than we are currently making on 93 octane so we were limited on how much power and torque we could make.

To our surprise the Dodson super stock clutch took quite a bit. We were able to run it to 30psi on VP MS109E unleaded race gas and make 1004WHP.

Here are some Dyno Charts

The first is this particular ALPHA 10 GT-R on pump gas and Race gas.

The second is the same set of charts laid over a stock GT-R

We should have one very happy customer coming to pick this GT-R up today :)

What about doing a water/meth injection kit for that car? Are you guys considering it? You may be able to hit those race gas numbers on 93 with meth.

We really don't like running pure methanol on cars. The fact is the car would rely so much a secondary form of fueling that in the event something goes wrong there is a risk of almost certain engine failure. No system out there is 100% fail safe. for that reason we do just water injection or a 50/50 water meth mix. Bottom line is race gas is always more consistent and thus safer.

In this case the car is making close to 840whp (easy high 9 second GTR) on just 93 octane. for just a few bucks more in gas you can unload her at 1000whp.
