was going to work yesterday on 94, moving with traffic in the left lane. this thing must have just fallen off because the traffic flow around it hadn't changed at all. i was close enough to the guy in front of me that i only had a short time to react, but poof there was a 2x4 in the road. i swerved but still caught it, to the immediate displeasure of my car... pulled over on the right shoulder and started getting sweaty and gross in work clothes. thought i just had a flat tire, surprised to find this when i pulled it off. low profile tires + sports suspension + wood = no good. this is a cast 19" breyton race gts. hoping the tire is salvageable i am going to bring it to someone to look at tomorrow.

Most are I think Enkei wheels have a newer/better casting system that puts it closer to the level of forged but I could be wrong. I mostly just know the import stuff.

bmw rims are made to do that. Most of the new BMW's (around 02/03 and up) have runflat tires and the side wall is so hard it would bend or break the suspension, If the rim didnt give out.

You might have some damage to the inside of the tire from the edges of that rim, won't know till its apart though.....

Damn! Wouldn't this be a huge safety issue? How is a wheel that breaks that bad be legal to sell? Are the wheels just designed to do this, or is it a flaw?

I'd say hit up the manufacturer, maybe there is a recall or some crazy thing going on with them? Or, they will say, oh these rims are for xx use, and you voided that because you ran over a board, which is not part of xx use...

Might not be worth the battle. Either way, you will probably end up searching for a new one again, for weeks and weeks at a time nonetheless.
