sprung hub direction

the new clutch came in today and i am about to install but i am unsure on which direction the thick side goes. i texted a few friends and got mixed answers.

so, does the thick side face motor or exhaust? i have a light weight flywheel so there is an indentation in it, but the pp is obviously cut out to, so it could fit either way so i am unsure. application is a E36

and you are 100 percent sure i am guessing? what would happen if you installed the wrong direction, j/w?

this is a response i got from another member on another board. im not saying you are wrong, just wanting to make sure, i dont want to mess anything up and have to drop the trans again.
