Issues with 1st gen Durangos?

my dad has 2000, we replaced 1 fuel pump under his extended warranty in like 04...and i think the truck needs one now.

the upper part of the front bumper on the older ones is metal and starts to rust.
the bottom of the tailgates rust
the inside of the door ( bottom ) rust.

other than that, my dad's truck has 80K miles on it and its just been fluid changes, tires and brakes.
4.7L V8 and the 45rfe trans is kick ass.

My dad has a 02 with 120K and has no real problems with it. Just maintenance. He had a 98 before that.

There was that thing with the lower ball joints, but i think they all got fixed under warranty for that

i think it was upper ball joints and it was a recall.......my dads truck had them done.

FWIW,
when i worked for chrysler in the service dpt...we saw liberties come in with busted lower ball joints....this was a recall as well.

never came across a durango that had them fail....
