Stereo sub/amp

I had a 1200 watt Sony amp wired up to my 12'' Kicker L5 before I pulled everything out the GP when I sold it. A few months prior I was having issues with the sub cutting in and out. The amp is close to 10 years old so I figured it wouldnt hurt to get another amp if Im going to get it installed in my Impala.

So...I was thinking about picking up my brothers JL 500/1. Would that be too much power for one 12'' L5?

Don't L5's put out around 500 rms or more? Should be just fine then since the 500/1 JL is a 500 rms x 1 Channel amp. Regardless anything will be better than a Sony Amp especially one that's 10 years old.

I figured since my brother used this on a 10'' JL in his Escalade, it should be fine with my 12'' Kicker

depending on the year of the l5 it is 500~600 rms so your be all good and the L5 is a very good sub and can run on as little as like 60 watts
