4.3 vortec distributor install

Which timing tabs to I use on the crank pulley? There are two. I'm just having trouble finding tdc compression on it and it's bugging me. What's the easiest way to find it without taking the valve cover off. It's probably simple I just can't figure it out ugh!

pull number one plug
shove finger in hole
turn crank up to two revolutions with a ratchet waiting for it to blow your finger out
when it no longer blows finger out, line timing tab with nearest mark on balancer thats the tdc1 mark

dont forget the later horizontal wire cap the number one rotor terminal is opposite the #1 wire terminal

That's what I wasn't doing was lining the nearest tab up! I'm gonna do this tomo. Thanks For the help James I really appreciate it a whole lot!

use a small philips screwdriver through the sparkplug hole to help you feel tdc once you confirm its compression stroke and get close to tdc
