My wife wants a scooter to put around town on... I have been eyeing Cragislist as the goal is to spend as little as possible.

I don't want a hunk of junk nor do I want some plastic china scooter that will last a year and then nickel and dime me to death.

And no she doesn't want pink. She likes the 'rugged' looking ones.

I saw this and it piqued my interest:

New paint is probably a rattlecan job and may look like shit, low res pic on Craigslist can hide it quite well... That and i'd recommend against buying a pre-modded scooter if you are looking for something that isn't 'junk'

Ruckus is quite a bit of money for a Scooter.

I would only buy that if I could get him way down on price.

I personally wouldnt buy a modded one. Yes theyre more fun but you dont know the guy who did the work. When youre shopping make sure it has a title. its a bitch to get one

You get quite a bit of Scooter for the money with a Ruckus. HUGE aftermarket and community, hold value extremely well, stupid high MPG, etc.

Modern Lambretta scooters get all kinds of good reviews, I've not seen a negative comment in a few minutes of searching.

Looks nice, but 30 mph top speed just won't cut it. The two cross streets by my house are 35 and 45.

do not buy that first one. people take out the stock motor and stick some chinese garbage motor on em. yeah they go faster, but if theres a problem you might as well just buy a new motor.

stick to yamaha or honda

i love ruckus's and zumas- by yamaha- zumas are tight.

If i could do it over again, I'd probably buy a ruckus that already has the GY6 swap. But stock they do just fine getting around. Ive put 400 miles on mine last summer and spent less than $20 in gas.
