i dont know nearly enough about this... buuuut.. im hoping some of you will....

i have a 1990 Chevy Caprice Police car..
350 "TurboFire" V8 under the hood.
the trans is dead.
i thought a turbo350 trans would work.. but apparently it isnt the same..
sooo.. ive done a bit of research and im pretty sure its a 4L60... or a 4L60E..
whats the difference? does anyone know for sure what trans is in this beast?

and .. also.. does anyone wanna trade me the correct one for a turbo350?
or.. ill buy one.. im on a relatively tight time frame.

thanks guys! your the bestest!

do you have cruise control?
if you have two cables at the TB both on the same side of the throttle shaft pivot point and none at the other side of the pivot then it should be a 4l60e
if it has three cables one of which is located opposite the pivot from the throttle cable and cruise control cable then it would be a 4l60/700r4

you can also look for a 4 wire connector on the drivers side of the trans if it's a standard hydrostatic trans, if it's electronicly controlled 4l60e then it will be a larger round connector

the bottom trans in this pic is a 4l60/700r4
youll notice the whiteish/tan 4 wire square connector on the drivers side, as well as the "third" cable refered to as the TV (throttle valve) cable

the electronic 4l60e will have a large round electrical connector on the pass side of the case and no TV cable
