It's a rubberized coating made for tools and other such things. It's stupid to put on a car. That will all peel off probably after any sort of weather.

People think it's awesome to put on like interior pieces and stuff. Then a week later they bitch about how it chipped and came off. People are dumb.

They do claim that it won't crack or fade in extreme weather conditions. I'm thinking about doing my rims this weekend myself. I've been reading more and more about this and it doesn't seem like a bad alternative to going through the process of painting. Not to mention if it starts chipping or fading bad enough you can just peel it off.

Tires are mounted as they are the current rims on the car, i've just gotta mark and take the weights off.

Did you do anything to prep the paint? The guy in the thread that was originally posted mentioned using steel wool to scuff the surfaces, but in the picture that you showed peeling the stuff back, it looks like you just sprayed it right on the cleared paint.

sprayed it right on...i cleaned it up very well first though to get all contaminants off..the reason why i used plasti-dip is so i dont mess up my paint and i can always take it off and look like nothing was there..steel wool kinda defeats the purpose lol.mite as well use regular paint.

Decided to plastdip my rims with teamstorm02 today and they came out a lot better then I thought. Here are some pictures. Sorry they're crap they are from my cell phone.

Rims are currently drying next to the heater about to go put them on. I'll put up some pictures tomorrow of them on the car in the day so you can see how they look.

All in all I like it for spending $12 bucks on 2 cans. Covered up the pits on the chrome and came out very smooth looking in person. Feedback?

That would be a good idea for guys with chrome rims to protect them in the winter... As long as the salt and shit didn't get under the plasti-dip and do even worse.
