Does your GM Keyfob suck?

Mine does. So I searched for a solution that did not involve paying the dealer like 75 bucks to program a new one. Tech 2 required.

That is the basic kind I have... Been re-soldering the battery connections since the second year I had it. Recently the buttons stopped working anyway. Heard a trick. Super glue aluminum foil to the contacts on the back of the rubber buttons and voila! SHIT WORKS! Thank you aluminum foil and super glue I now have remote start again.

I thought we were talking about them breaking or not working. My remote start has never worked from that far away. The door lock/unlock does, but I can't remote start from over 50 feet.

For extra range, put the remote to your chin. Itll help a little bit.

most common problem is the battery tray coming loose, other than that using a eraser on the contacts for the buttons usually helps... thats about 80% of everybodys problems out there. other than that, dont drop it and you should be fine

My buttons have completely deteriorated. I have to press the little button on the circuitboard w/ another key from my keyring. But god damn is a new fob expennnnssiiiive. I really should get another one tho.....i only got 1 key for this car.

Eraser did not work so I replaced the contacts with foil.

There is a little shop in gurnee mills that's sells replacement key fobs for like 30 bucks. I was going to get one the last time I was out that way but I forgot. Pretty sure the store is still there.

The GTPS's key fob has like a 10 ft radius distance. And you need to slam the f'er to get it to work. I hate it. My mom's Subaru is great. Press it lightly from a distance and IT WORKS. What a concept.
