Back in 2008 when the M3 was just being released, a shipment of M3s to the US had a freighter tip on its side, hundreds of brand new M3s totalled. Luckily my car was NOT on that ship.

There was the Cougar Ace carrying 4700 new Mazdas back in 2005.

They scrapped every vehicle, even the ones that stayed strapped in and out of the water. (Which were most of them!)

These were some of the cars they flattened. They recycled no parts, they all went to the shredders!

Imagine if that was a ship from Germany filled with 3, 5 & 7 Series cars?

its a liability, if the cars had some problem the owners could sue. I am sure they got their insurance money out of it, so it was all good.

I vaguely recall that. Didn't they crush most of those at the port they were received once salvaged?

Its the same thing they do at skip barber and bondurant racing schools. They crush all of the cars because they just don't want something to come back to them. Its a sad world hat we live in that that is the norm.
