The PINKS™ All Out at Route 66 Raceway® qualifying race is at 9 a.m. CDST on May 16, 2010.

Drivers who still want in – consider this your lifeboat.

The structure of the Qualifying Race will be very similar to an ET Bracket Series Race. Route 66’s ET Bracket Series rules will apply.

If you are unfamiliar with bracket racing, here’s a guide to figure out what you have and where you should go on May 16.

Remember the first day of your freshman year in high school? This is your class map.

First, does your car have doors on it? If it does, keep reading. If it does not – we’re sorry, but only door cars can compete in PINKS All Out.

Second, how quick is your car? (In drag racing, “quick” is measured in seconds and “fast” is measured in MPH).

If your car covers the quarter mile in 7.99 seconds or less, you can be in the Quick 8 Qualifier (see below).

If your car runs a quarter mile in 7 seconds or more, which most will, here are your categories (by how many seconds it takes you to finish a quarter-mile run). Each category is followed by requirements or helpful hints. All racers must bring and wear a Snell-certified racing helmet (year 2000 or later). Racers whose cars run quicker than 9.99 seconds must wear a Snell-certified full-face racing helmet.

Super Pro (Electronics ET, 7.00-11.99 seconds): Racers who have cars that run 9.99 seconds or quicker must have an NHRA license. Every car that runs 9.99 seconds or quicker must also display an up-to-date NHRA chassis inspection sticker. If you need an NHRA Chassis Inspection for this season, call Route 66 Raceway’s Charlie Lindsey at (815) 722-5500 for help.

Pro ET 1 (No Electronics ET, 7.00-9.99 seconds): Racers who have cars that run 9.99 seconds or quicker must have an NHRA license. Every car that runs 9.99 seconds or quicker must also display an up-to-date NHRA chassis inspection sticker. If you need an NHRA Chassis Inspection for this season, call Route 66 Raceway’s Charlie Lindsey at (815) 722-5500 for help.

Pro ET 2 (No Electronics ET, 10.00-12.00 seconds)

Sportsman (No Electronics ET, 12.00-12.99 seconds): If you’ve never raced before or seldom do, your car probably falls in the Sportsman category. And if you plan to race in your regular street car, with or without minor modifications that can pass an NHRA Technical inspection, you’ll probably fall in the Sportsman category.

The day will run like this: Cars in Super Pro, Pro ET 1, Pro ET 2 and Sportsman will get two time trial runs. The first eight spots for PINKS All Out go to the racers who have the best reaction times among the categories in time trial sessions (eight spots total will be up for grabs. Not eight per category).

Then the race beings.

The bracket category cars face off in bracket-style racing (racers are matched up in a bracket – just like NCAA basketball). Up to eight cars in each category will get into PINKS All Out.

Then, to make things a little more interesting, money will be thrown into the mix.

The winners of each category will race each other (Ex.: Super Pro could race Sportsman, etc.) for money:

Winner: $1,000 Runner-up: $400 Semi’s: $200.

Cars that run quicker than 7.99 in a quarter-mile will try their luck in the Quick 8 Qualifier, where eight PINKS All Out entries will be won. Route 66 Raceway Top Sportsman competition rules apply in this category.

One time trial will be held for the Quick 8. Then those racers face off in a One Shot Qualifier, where the eight quickest cars advance to eliminations and earn their way into PINKS All Out. A Shootout Purse of $1,000 for the winner and $400 for the runner-up are on the line during these rounds as well – so that money will be won during the qualifying event.

Quick 8 racers who do not qualify in this category may go back into the Super Pro mix if desired.

The smoke might settle then on the day’s competition, but the tension won’t. The rest of the entries available for PINKS All Out will be selected by drawing at the track.

Race entry for the PINKS All Out qualifier is $60 - $45 for a run card and $15 for racer admission. Just want to watch? Adult tickets are $15, while kids 12 years old and younger are free.

Drivers who have already been selected for PINKS All Out at Route 66 Raceway cannot participate in this qualifying event.

Buy your tickets now by telephone at (877) 691-7223 or at the Chicagoland Speedway/Route 66 Raceway Ticket Office between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. at 500 Speedway Blvd., Joliet, IL 60433.
