Plug wires

Doing a tune up on the silverado and have a question about wires. Has anyone ran the MSD Streetfire wires? They are 8mm and cost $33 for the set. The MSD Super Conductors are 8.5mm and $75. Its a huge price difference and I dont think it will make a difference, but before I hit "checkout" Ill get TCGs opinion.

x2 on what fish said. I have a set of MSD 11mm race wires and they have been great so far, cant see having a problem with the streetfire wires, or even a new set of stockers.

hmmm i found that the Super Conductors are only 40-50 ohms resistance, while the Streetfires are 500ohms. This engine will never be heavily modded or raced or anything like that. Maybe headers, E-fans, and a tune at the most this year. I think Ill save my $ and get the cheaper ones.

Get the better wires or stock. MSD wires are made by Taylor FYI. Their low-cost wires are crap, and go bad within a year...arcing, falling apart, etc.

The longest lasting wires with low resistance I've owned over the years are Accel 300+ race wires, you do yave to terminate your own ends...but I've had sets last me 10 years with lots of thrashing on the motor. Accel's other wires are crap though.

My bad kevin, I have the taylor 10.4mm race wires. Speed inc sells them for $65. You can just drop in there and pick up a set.

They usually come with a pair of metal pieces; one goes in a vise, the other you strike against the ends to crimp the ends...pretty easy. The directions can guide you along pretty well. First wire or two usually come out a little wonky, but then you get the hang of it. Wires come with one end terminated, you trim the length, then the other end.

My experience with the Regal has been to go with the stock Delco wires. They are high quality, handle moderate modding well and last for a long time! You can get them from O'Reillly's.
