Need to find a source for Jeep parts

I have a buddy whose oil pump froze on his Jeep Cherokee. He's having trouble finding a relatively inexpensive engine because, according to the yards he's talked to so far, cash for clunkers destroyed many Jeep engines. He's being quoted $1,800.

I know a little about the 4.0s but wanted to ping you guys and see if anyone is familiar with a Jeep parts depot around here or a good source for Jeep parts.

x2. the 4.0l is a dime a dozen engine. mopar has been using the damn thing for 30+ years.
i wonder what happened to make the oil pump freeze. the 4.0 doesnt have oil pump issues, it's the 4.7

the 4.0 has alot of oil pump problems. theres a high volume one avail, but u gotta mod the oil pan to make it work.

interesting. the jeeps i've seen dont have any issues. my shop jeep just turned 200k miles on a junkyard engine that was put in at 30k (original engine was run out of oil). no one knows how many miles the engine had when it was put in.

ive only seen the problem on the newer ones 98+. most show it by having low oil pressure at hot idle.
