As some of you may know my DD (1995 GP SE) is in the shop with a trans issue.
The Mustang is up in storage, so I've been doing a lil searching for an Evo 9.
I was hoping to have a newer car that I can drive year round and not have to worry too much especially with the 180K on the GP.
I found a few I really liked (stock) 2006 Evo 9 SE, but there in CA.

I found one in WI.

modded 06 Evo

I found one in IL and the price was right $17K with 36K miles but it has the SSL package (sunroof, sound and leather) which I really didn't want.

from my understanding the



SSL sounds sunroof and leather

SE is basically similar to an MR but with the better 5 speed trans and it comes with the red stitched Recaro seats

My friend has an 06 and even constant highway driving gets him almost 20mpg. Casual driving he's around 15mpg. He's got an intake, bov, ams tune and full 3" turbo back.

Yeah my friends Evo VIII MR doesn't get the best gas mileage ever for a 4 banger. He usually gets 17-19 city. Has an AMS intercooler, cams, tune, full exhaust, evo IX turbo, etc. Thing moves the fuck out. I say get one.

yeah gas mileage is a big issue, I figured anything boosted will suck some gas especially with my lead foot.

i get 21-22.5 mpg in my STi... not quite an equal comparison but you might be able to get above 20.

From what I've seen with friends cars te evo is worse than the Sti. Maybe it's a gearing thing?

I get about 22mpg right now. In the warmer months it's like 25mpg but I've got little hp.

Did all STi's come with a six-speed? I believe only the MR EVOs came with a six-speed, while the others were five-speeds. That would be a big factor for gas mileage.

Yes all sti's are 6 speeds. My car is at 3k at 70mph with my 5-speed. It sucks

I don't know how overdriven 6th is but the other gears are very short compared to mine

I may be wrong, but can't you turn off the all wheel drive in STi's? That might help with the mpg.

Auto imprezas can become fwd if you pull a fuse

MPG for my 06 Evo is around 23-24 and just under 20 city so it really depends on how you drive it I think.

I just keep the needle under 3G and try not to hit boost all the time.

If you are going to be very particular about a car, you are probably going to end up paying a premium for what you want. Either pay extra for what you want or make a little sacrafice and save some money and get something close to what you want.
