boost logic and ams...next spring is gonna be epic

Russell@BoostLogic said:
So recently we decided to get out and do big things with the GTR, and wanted to toss our hat in the ring of shops and owners going for 1000hp. So we did some thinking, and found not one but two GTRs to develop a kit capable of huge horsepower numbers, while not being a dog on the street.

In the Porsche 996 market we were very successful with Precision's new HP Technology series, making an unbelievable 850whp at 26psi from a pair of the new billet 58mm compressor wheels. So we thought, If it brought the heat on the 996, it can only get better with the GTR's valve train and .2 liter displacement advantage over the 996.

Right now we've got a fresh black GTR sitting in the shop and the Boost Logic owned shop car on the way, and a few days ago the first few parts showed up. A nice shiny Haltec Platinum Pro. We're gonna run around and play with the ECU in a totally stock car for a couple days with our tuner Justin Nenni of Tuning Concepts behind the keyboard just to see whats left on the table with ROM flashes power wise.

Then today we got a whole big pile of parts to get started...
GTR%20Parts.JPG

We'll be trying to cram two of the new HP Technology 5857s, not such a big difference in space but we'll be trying to use the ported S-Cover although we have the standard E covers on stand by. We went with the BILLET specifically for its ability to out run its cast counterpart by leaps and bounds at higher pressure ratios, which makes them great for dual use cars, keep the drive ability and power of a 3076R on pump gas, but once you put in some C16/Q16 and run the compressor up in the big pressure ratios, it keeps pumping out the power.
58Ported%20Cover.JPG

To save some space, weight and generally have a cleaner, easier install we're going with PTE's V-Band inlet and outlet exhaust housings. We we're really impressed with these when we pulled them out of the box, Precision has really stepped up its game on the casting quality for these so we're looking forward to seeing what they can do in tight spaces.
GTR%20Precision%20Turbo.JPG

Lastly a set of Carrillo Rods, once the kit is fabricated and on the cars one will come back apart for a full engine build with custom sleeves, CP Pistons and these Carrillo rods. Right now we're talking with a few of our suppliers about cams and waiting to hear back with some specs to get some ground. The other car will get on the back out on the street to do some testing and turn up the volume knob until we find what breaks first.
GTR%20Carrilo.JPG

So stay tuned, in the coming days you'll be able to follow our development of a mid power capable and 1000hp capable intercooler kit for the GTR, V-Band externally gated manifolds and Race downpipes. Maybe we're too far behind in the Race for the first 1000hp GTR, but we'll be right on everyone's heels to see whats at 1000hp and beyond.

Also, expect a Boost Logic build thread in the Transmission and Driveline section too, we'll be making our own parts soon, and with the turbo setup we have planned I'm sure we'll be spending some good time in the Trans.

some small updates, info and tidbits from boost logic and others

the tranny will be in question to run 8's.. IMO .. we will never see a GTR in the 8's with the tranny we have ...you will need to run a 1.3x and i think it will snap the crap out of everything inside that transmisson.. a auto swap.. then an easy 8's.. this dual clutch tranny has to many parts and variables to hold 1000whp off the line..

another note is.. boost will be needed off the line to get into 1.3's 60ft time like 10psi... and that is $hitload of stress..

Ehhh, the limits of any car are always being pushed, 5 years ago anyone in the 8s with a Supra had a Glide or a TH400, now if you're not down in the 8s on the stock transmission you need to step up your game.

Nobody will know what the GTR can and can't do until someone goes out and starts trying to up the ante. unfortunately until costs go down, there won't be too many people wanting to push even a built GR6 past the current expectations of when parts will break.

We think the GR6 has alot left on the table when all the pieces that Nissan's accounting department got their hands on get replaced with beefier components. Hopefully we can make it work going down the track.

oh yeah, updates soon, you guys aren't ready for these manifolds.

Teaser picture, Boost Logic equal length tubular headers holding the pretty 4" inlet turbo.

Ok gang, heres whats happenin.

Passenger Side.

Driver Side
gtr%20driver.JPG

Did a pretty good job of keeping it equal length, The Collector is razor sharp, it can't really be ideal on a 3-Cylinder, but its as close as its gonna get, and the waste gate port is still the primary flow path like the stock header so that boost control will never be an issue.
gtr%20header.JPG

Big Kids Intercooler, 4.5in thick, just barely fits into the stock location while keeping the stock ducting.
intercooler.JPG

Our welder was about ready to hang himself trying to make the headers, and its definitely a close fit, but the end product is pretty amazing, Even discounting the power gains from going with the tubular manifold, at least this car will sound absolutely fantastic.

PS.Yes, we did have to ditch our pie in the sky dream of Ported S-covers. There won't be a significant performance difference and on the upshot spool will be a little better, but even finding the room for E-Covers was hard.

ams has two cars there. 1 car is for the 1000hp build, the other is for a 800hp build. ams is also designing inhouse solutions for the trans i believe. theyre pretty much doing everything from the ground up. itll be interesting to see the two cars come spring.

Hey guys, been taking things slow getting the final fitments and jigs for production perfect but the driver side manifold is finally complete and welded.

The Passenger side is currently getting the jig welded around it and should be welded later today.

I guess from here we'll get it all on the car and knock out some OE location intercooler piping and the 4.5x22x10.5 intercooler and go see what kinda power it can make.

On another note, we've had John from Uprev here every night cracking the GTR ECU. Uprev isn't new to opening Nissan ECUs to tuning, data logging and DTC clearing. hopefully they'll be a more powerful cheaper alternative to COBB once all the Tables are found.

monday update

Russell@BoostLogic said:
Started Working on the intercooler, we're going for a bolt-in factory replacement style piece that uses as many of the OEM mounting points as possible so there won't be any problems with rattles. We did try to go with a different design than the other companies so we hope you'll like it.

The bottom end tanks are mostly done so hopefully I can update with a complete product late today or tomorrow.
