Ya, that's an O-ring groove betwen the top plate and the Whipple... No need for paper gaskets or RTV.

The Pre-Intake show is the Aussie RWD version. The bottom plate isn't installed, to better show the size of the IC core.

Parts start to show up at my place next week, and should have everything to do a test assembly by the 2nd week of September.

Hopefully sometime in November everything will be ready to put back together, and retune.

New TB and MAF arrived today...

Holley 90mm TB.

We went with this TB over other 90mm ones that were less expensive because it has better off idle characteristics, which will make it better for a street driven car.

New 100mm MAF:

Stopped by the machine shop to talk to the guys and see the progress they have made with the ZZP Aluminum heads. (Bare) Valve seats and guides are in and look awesome! We went with Beryllium Copper alloy seats and guides. Here's some features:

Alloy 25 has the optimal material properties best suited for the intake valve environment. This alloy is 98% copper and provides sufficient heat transfer and superior strength. This alloy will transfer the necessary heat to extend the intake valve life while being able to withstand the forces applied by the intake valve upon closing.

Alloy 3 has the optimal material properties best suited for the exhaust valve environment. This alloy is more than 97% copper and provides superior heat transfer and sufficient strength. This alloy will transfer the necessary heat from the exhaust valve into the cylinder head to help prevent premature seat pitting and heat related fractures.

Custom valves will be ordered soon.

New hardened and coated channel plate sleeve (The stock channel plate sleeves have a common wear issue where the input shaft wears into them. This one will not wear or gall)

its money wasted on almost any fwd build... no offense taken...

:werd: I mean FWD is fine for me because I'm not pushing more than probably 190 whp at best. It seems like anything over 300 whp in a FWD car is an absolute waste unless it's COMPLETELY set up for drag (tube frame, huge slicks, etc etc) on a road course it is absolutely worthless because there is really never going to be a time to use more than that without roasting the front tires. I wish that he would have done an original build like that on an F-body, miata, solstice, etc etc, just SOMETHING that is RWD, or even AWD.

Custom crank... all that engine work... Seems such a shame when the thing blows up the first time. They're treading where few have tread before and they're going to blow it up at some point. I'd learn my lessons with a few junkyard motors, get it dialed in and then drop in the all the other stuff.

I don't know... With how stout these engines are, how inexpensive replacement blocks are, and how easy they are to replace, any time I see someone "building" a motor I just ask myself why.

yeah I think that they may be missing a lot of things by going with all these new parts. I'd love to build something wild like that, but seriously, just put the motor on a dyno, make the power and just have a permanent engine dyno/show off stand in the garage. I dont think a GP is worthy of all that.

It's like a supra. 900 hp and 12s.

still... billet shit is awesome. I was planning on someday having rods made...
