IT looks like I'm going to SEMA for the first time...

I've never been to SEMA or Vegas. Any input on what to expect or what to do would be appreciated. Further, I booked a room at the Sahara which is on the older end of the strip. It has a monorail stop and is near the convention center...anyone with experience staying at that hotel? I know its old and inexpensive but is it really dirty and unkempt?

Its not open to the public. I got involved with some sort of "Consumer Research" program SEMA is doing.
