helllllll yes.

i got rejected twice because my car wasnt running the "evap" test, or the heated oxygen sensor test for like 3 months straight...

took it there today (plates expire after tomorrow)

and it passed...

my evap is just removed (small ghetto filter over the line in the engine bay)

egr is no-mo'

cat? whats a cat?

rear o2 sensor?- im pretty sure i cut the back end of the wiring harness for the rear o2 sensor off

i even went in to the emissions test place with my cutout open... :pedobear:

/lame thread

but im excited.

Sweet! Eagles probably happy too!

exactly. haha. i dont know how the epa would have reacted had there been another two cars registered to his house.

I need to do some driving on the highway and then the white car should pass... glad other people are passing too. heh I guess I dont have to do as much work as I thought I would.

follow the drive cycle- and you can do it in like 15 minutes... ill post it at the end here.

Nice. I have to do a front O2 and take care of my EVAP issue that Ive had forever. Had to extend my sticker.

evap shmeeemap

:h5:

I also passed at the crystal lake one this year...no cats. Had a few of the staff mean-muggin my car... the guy told me i could do a burn-out on the way out. :hsugh:

did you?

I've had no problems passing emissions without cats. I even had a cutout in place of mine on the Gp.

KJ had a bunch of tests not ready in the PCM.

exactly.

He had his checked off with hptuners but for some reason was acting funny.

KJ does it still say not ready for your evap and whatnots? I wonder when I'll have to go for emissions... My car is super stinky without a cat.

exactly... yeah the codes were set to non report ( i dont even remember how many are set to that as of right now... prolly 10-15) yet the tests werent running... namely the evap test, heated oxygen sensor and egr... i put the IAT sensor back on my car which seemed to have triggered the evap/egr test... yet the heated oxygen sensor test never triggered- so i just took it to be tested just to do it.. and apparently you can have 1 "not ready"

i hear that.
im obviously on a tune, but im not throwing any codes so.. :wiggle:

yeah i wasnt throwing any codes- but like i said before it wasnt that- it was the tests not running.

drive cycle:

general Motors Driving Cycle

A complete driving cycle should perform diagnostics on all systems. A complete driving cycle can be done in under fifteen minutes.
To perform an OBDII Driving cycle do the following:

  • Cold Start. In order to be classified as a cold start the engine coolant temperature must be below 50°C (122°F) and within 6°C (11°F) of the ambient air temperature at startup. Do not leave the key on prior to the cold start or the heated oxygen sensor diagnostic may not run.
  • Idle. The engine must be run for two and a half minutes with the air conditioner on and rear defroster on. The more electrical load you can apply the better. This will test the O2 heater, Passive Air, Purge "No Flow", Misfire and if closed loop is achieved, Fuel Trim.
  • Accelerate. Turn off the air conditioner and all the other loads and apply half throttle until 88km/hr (55mph) is reached. During this time the Misfire, Fuel Trim, and Purge Flow diagnostics will be performed.
  • Hold Steady Speed. Hold a steady speed of 88km/hr (55mph) for 3 minutes. During this time the O2 response, air Intrusive, EGR, Purge, Misfire, and Fuel Trim diagnostics will be performed.
  • Decelerate. Let off the accelerator pedal. Do not shift, touch the brake or clutch. It is important to let the vehicle coast along gradually slowing down to 32km/hr (20 mph). During this time the EGR, Purge and Fuel Trim diagnostics will be performed.
  • Accelerate. Accelerate at 3/4 throttle until 88-96 km/hr (55-60mph). This will perform the same diagnostics as in step 3.
  • Hold Steady Speed. Hold a steady speed of 88km/hr (55mph) for five minutes. During this time, in addition to the diagnostics performed in step 4, the catalyst monitor diagnostics will be performed. If the catalyst is marginal or the battery has been disconnected, it may take 5 complete driving cycles to determine the state of the catalyst.
  • Decelerate. This will perform the same diagnostics as in step 5. Again, don't press the clutch or brakes or shift gears.

I have no problems with emission testing. 1986 vehicles are exempt from testing so the carb'd V-8 isn't a problem. ;)

One thing some folks don't know is if you reset an error code with one of the quick handhelds it sometimes requires 50 start cycles before certain monitors will report everything is good which can cause a "false fail" when you get tested (if it has less than 50 starts.)

I had this happen when I had a bad gas cap. I replaced it and had the error code erased. Two days later failed testing. Waited a week or so then it passed.
