2005+ GMC Envoy - Towing Capabilities?

Does anyone know if an Envoy can easliy tow a trailor and a full-size car without struggling? I saw that they have a tow capacity of 5200-5300.

Full size 07+ Tahoes and Yukons are ridiculously expensive.

Open trailor and my SSEi (~4000lbs).

the envoy wont get up and go, ull have to be gentle. and is this gonna be towed all the time or just once in a blue moon

Envoy with the 5.3? If so, my parents towed an open trailer with a Wrangler on it, with their fully loaded Suburban with the 5.3 from Chicago to Tampa, FL with no problems at all.

It got the same gas mileage it usually got, shitty.

I ASSUME you are referring to the 5.3, the 6 banger is a dog, and has enough trouble just moving the envoy around .

I JUST saw a I6 Envoy with an open trailer and a Jeep Wrangler strapped down on it. I didnt get a chance to talk to the guy as I had a boat to launch, but I'd assume its not THAT bad. The V8 would be a MUCH better choice over the I6 though, I drive quite a few TB's and Envoys and unless they have the tow package (better gearing, though still nothing special) and/or the V8, they are dogs.

I towed Teases camaro from naperville to rockford in my 4.2 envoy with no problems at all. yea it starts slow but who needs to launch at every stop light with a car on the back

Yep...definately would want the 5.3. I anticipate towing about 10 times a year.

How heavy is the trailer? Also be sure to check tongue weight...

why don't you go on cars.com or another site of that sort. It can tell you how much it can tow and that usually is a conservative number.

EDIT: the I6 is rated at 5300lbs, the V8 is rated at 6100lbs.

For fun I tried finding a 5.3 Trailblazer in my area. There was only 1 within 150 miles and it was almost $20K. For that, might as well buy a TBSS.

Although I hear the AWD trans and the 4T65E are battling it out for the who will break under stock power first award.

Nope...I'm just doing some research. My wife's Aztek is getting up in age and I'm looking into replacement options. A pickup is not an option.

Hey, devin is selling his TBSS on here for 17.5k with a built transmission already in it. It is plenty fast already and you could probably resist the temptation to mod it much more.
