97 Camry EGR/VSV repair

[Fish]

Anyone ever replaced a VSV (Vaccum solenoid valve) on a 4 banger Camry? Did some research on the code, and it is:

P0401: Exhaust Gas Recirculation - Insufficient Flow

Did a quick google and people are saying the EGR valve is most likely fine, but the VSV probably needs to be replaced.

+1 for a bad vsv. i've replaced plenty of egr VSVs along with the evap VSVs. they like to shit the bed too.
the egr vsv is in a very shitty spot, you can't see it. it's on the backside of the engine, middle of the block. it's alot easier to get to under the car, but you can get to it from the top if you can fit your hand behind the intake.

Thats what I hear. I said my payment for doing labor would be a new jack and jackstands. :giggity:

nice. i love working for new tools.
all you need is a 10mm or 12mm socket to loosen the bolt holding the vsv to the block.

I have the same code. I got the 24mm wrench to take off my egr to clean it. Also check the vacuum control module to the left of the egr.

Let me know how hard it is to replace the vcv because i need to asap for emissions.
