Default Towing question

So let's say that my mustang will now get trailered to tracks, and I'm looking for a cheap DD/tow vehicle...
Do you think a 4.0 A4 cherokee would be able to do the job? Or do I need to go bigger?
any suggestions?

why do you need a tow vehicle? drive that convertible. when you need an 8 point cage then you can tow it....or if it breaks all the time

you want cheap? get a 1500 truck regular cab (just be ready for crappy gas mileage)

the only reason to tow IMHO is if you can't street title it, have it caged or it breaks down constantly (the sometimes break down means AAA Plus IMHO)

In short no, unless you are going to dolly tow it or get a super light trailer.

well, if cost consideration and you want closed cab.. get a chevy suberban (Hell, I can't spell it) one with a tow package...

but cheapest will most likely be a 1500 truck with tow package (pick up truck)

gluck

Where is the video in this thread?

Id say go bigger. I'm sure it could tow a car and trailer, but you would want some extra power and dont want to be pushing the truck at its limit. go V8

under $2k you are looking at pick up truck ...dont' get a v6 either.. get a v8 w/tow package...

..you might get lucky with an older suberban (Again, i can't spell it)

..just look around.. I know someone who got one for $2200 w/heavy duty tow package

and if gas goes up to $4 a gallon again this summer, you can get almost any gas guzzling tow vehicle for a fraction of the price

doesn't mean its good for the car either though... (tranny and engine, etc.)

I've seen lots of things pull stuff they shouldn't be and can only speculate at how much longer the trans would stay together....

...hey now.. the first time I had a truck *1500 and trailer I only went to the track 3x a year.. granted now I went to the track 33 days last year, I started out very slow because the trailer enabled me to go more (see how that works?)

Trailering a car to the track isnt all that bad. Get your track prep done at home, load the car, and go. If you break, put it on the trailer and go home. Its nice to drive to and from the track, but you never know what could happen.
