I more than likely need rear struts for my 97 Camry LE and bushings in the back. When i hit bumps i hear a loud clunking so i know some bushings need to be replaced. Merlin quoted me $500 for rear struts. Looking for something way cheaper. Anyone know a good place? I'm in the NW Suburbs. Schaumburg Area.

$500 for just the rear struts+labor is HUGE.

Its like $60 flat-rate at Farm and Fleet, so $120 in labor + struts *typically $80-100 each*

Or you can just hire someone on here like syP to do it for you.

Dude screw that we can do that ourselves!! We're about to start suspension in autos so just buy the struts and we'll do em! I gotta do the Kia ones anyways.. I'm usually good with suspension except for when balljoints rip off steering knuckles

I went online and bout brand new bilsteins for the benz for a hundo a piece at eshocks.com I think thats the name of the site. I will post later tonight when I get home from work what the name is for sure, and free shipping on orders 200.00 or more

yeah atif i'd like to do it myself but it might be more than that and i rather get in professionally pinpointed. I'm looking for a shop in the NW Suburbs that's honest and will do good work. 500 is bullshit !

Take it to Sears. We do that kind of work all the time. Tell them you want a steering and suspension evaluation for the concerns you listed. We will do the eval for free and let you know what it needs. We are also running a sale at 50% off installation of struts. We carry Monroe struts and they carry a lifetime warranty with a 6 month 6,000 mile warranty on the labor.

You can go to the Sears at Woodfield.....or if you want to come down to the Sears in Bloomingdale I can take care of you. I'm the Assistant Manager at the Bloomingdale location. Just let me know if you are going to bring it in.

It's probably not the end links. The Camry is notorious for the center bushings on the sway bar going bad. If you plan to do those yourself......make sure you soak the bolts in penetrating oil everyday 2 to 3 days before you do it. Those bolts LOVE to break.
