Does the check engine light go on, when you get in the car and put the key in the ON position? If it doesn't the bulb maybe burnout but you still have the CEL?

If you disconnected the battery or did anything else to reset the ECU? If yes you need to drive for about 40-100 miles before it's in the ready state to get tested. What did they tell you at emissions?

well, have you tried disconnecting your battery. With my rx8, if I disconnect my battery it makes the CEL go away for 2-3 days.

That won't make you pass, they'll tell you to come back.

my guess is the readiness moniters aren't set, which means it needs to be driven more. did you fix the problem when the SES light was on?

Thats the thing i was trying to remember. I knew you can't just drive it willy nilly. Thanks james Also remember something about shutting the car off then on then drive at least 3 times.

Im guessing there are still some monitors that have not run. The most likely one is the evap. Take that bish out on a good drive
