Escort 9500ix vs Valentine One

Got a ticket tonight in Carol Stream. Got it in my Camaro driving home from work. My current radar detector is a Cobra I bought when I was 16 and is in the M3, I need an upgrade bad. I'm debating between the new escort and the valentine one. This radar detector will go in the M and the old cobra will go in my SS. I'm leaning towards the 9500ix since it can be upgraded through the computer, detects red light cameras and speed cameras. Plus, it's not as ugly as the valentine one.

not as good of distance. Turk you can ask the kid with the white STI on this site about one night coming home from the city, my v1 started going off a good three miles before we came up to the cop. The v1 is the business. I would go with either the new k40 or the v1. Escort would be last on the list of those three for me

I vote for the 9500 only because I have one, but you cant really lose with either. The V1 is also pretty large but the arrows are nice. I had a cobra in high school it was a joke.

I still have my junk cobra, it's pretty good at letting me know when I've already been nailed by radar so i can mentally prepare for the ticket I'm about to get. Been thinking about upgrading but for the most part i just keep my eyes peeled.

I have had both and i enjoy the arrows with the v1 but i love the gps feature on the 9500i. either one is good enough and its really preference

Haha, I feel the same about my cobra. I don't really speed anymore so I havn't upgraded.

My boss has the 9500 in his Maz. It's a very nice unit. Even self-learns bogus radar @ grocery stores and such. If I had a spare $400 for a RD, I'd be all over this thing.

yeah I really like the 9500 but have NO money to actually get one at this point so my 8500 will do just fine. I thought that the GPS memory, red light camera, and speed trap features are pretty cool. I have no tickets so my escort must be doing something right, plus my friend with the V1 has had 3-4 tickets and his liscense taken away, but we also have very different driving styles, and his car is a ton louder.

You also don't speed as much as he did, and you use your detector more. I think every time he got a ticket was when he didnt have it up or on.

Also, how often does the Valentine One get upgraded? It seems to me that i've seen the same ad in my car mags for the longest time now.

I have the 9500i. I like it, but i've never tried the v1. This was quite possibly the MOST i have ever imagined spending on a radar detector and it will be the last time too.
