Got woken up by the wife this morning telling me her door randomly flew open while driving. WTF?

Its her driver side rear door (all this on a 2005 Equinox) and now the fucker won't close. It looks to be lined up with the latching mechanisms and all but it just bounce's back in my face. If I could, I think I would get rid of this piece of shit.....

if anything, you just have to replace the latch. i bet you can find them on ebay and it's not that hard to do... I did it on my bmw and the part was $30 and took me about an hour...

Happened to me once, the door was very hard to open after it snowed one night, after I got it open then it wouldn't close. I messed with the handle and lock from inside the car and locked it. The incident hasn't happened since.

Apperently it was slightly frozen. I'd fuck with it now but I just chipped a huge part of my tooth fucking with it and now I'm pissed.

my van has done that. If i manually lock it from the inside then the latch gets all messed i HAVE to use the auto lock. I then have to mess with the latch and then it works fine. But it shouldnt do that on a 2000 mines a 95

This has happened to me once before however the door did not open fully. My radio screen alerted me that the door was slightly open so I just pulled over and closed it properly.

Right before I was about to leave to work this morning I attempted to open one of the rear pass doors however since it has frozen it opened up a bit. I just opened it a little from the inside and then slowly pulled away from the outside and closed it properly.

Shit like this sucks because it can fuck up your weather stripping, door handle, and door locks.

the rod that went from my door handle to the door latch on my 88 monte i used to have would always fall off, and i'd always have to tear the door panel off and dig around inside the door to put it back in.

this doesnt help you in any way, i just wanted to share.

Update: The car is fixed.

My wife's sisters fiance took a look at it (drunk none the less) and figured out it was something with the child lock that fucked up the door locking shit. Either way after breaking my tooth I wasn't going to fuck with it.
