YouTube VW ID.R almost cracks 5 minutes at the Ring

Volkswagen has released onboard footage of professional racing driver Romain Dumas setting a new lap record around the Nurburgring at the wheel of the purpose-built VW ID.R race car. The lap time, which was confirmed by the German automaker on Monday afternoon, was set at 6:05.336 and towers above the previous electric-vehicle record.

Jesus that has to be the smoothest most drama free looking lap ive ever watched. And I don't think it ever got to even 170mph at any point on the track. Hell all the way down the straight he was only doing like 150mph. And yet it was so fast. The next closest all electric vehicle is the Nio EP9 w/ a 6:45. Dang

It could have been even quicker if it had enough juice for the long straight at the end. It was only hitting about 245 kmh on the final straight, despite earlier easily hitting 260+ between bends earlier on the track. Still impressive for all electric.
