Default Burnt transmission fluid...

I recently purchased a 2002 Infiniti QX4 with 125k on the clock. Took it in to Firestone for an oil change. Had them check the trans fluid and they observed that it was burnt. Firestone recommends that I take it to a trans specialist for further assessment. Any thoughts?

Thanks

Firestone sucks. Did you check it yourself?

Change the fluid (DO NOT FLUSH...EVER). If it starts to slip or exhibit weirdness THEN take it to a specialist. If someone tells you to flush it, they are a completed moron and know nothing about transmissions.

If it turns out to need a rebuild, what should I expect to pay?

Does the trans not shift normally? I would change the fluid, and go from there.

Unless it's doing weird things I wouldn't even worry about it.
