Default 10,000 trailer 1/8 mile drag race

It's interesting how the two most unreliable diesels on the market killed everything else.

Side note, I want to do this.

0 of them

the issue is the trailer is on tires with like a 106 mph speed rating and they'd eclipse that shit in 1/4

that's why they shortened it to 1/8th back in the day.

they run the 1/4 empty though.

These test are gay.

Show me real world testing; idling the truck for HVAC, grocery getting, gelling, curbs, and putting gasoline in the tank...

Those are the real world test.

Altitude will still affect turbos because of air density. Turbos will be working harder to achieve same boost levels. You see a lot of guys, with huge turbo's in these challenges struggling to get the turbo's spooled up, whereas at sea level, they'd probably be fine.

Quote:
If you are someone who lives close to sea level and you are talking to a guy on a forum who lives in Denver, the same turbo isnít going to perform the same. Being 5,000 feet lower in elevation than the guy in Denver means the turbo will be spinning roughly 5 to 10 percent slower for the same power. That may or may not seem like a lot, but it may result in the same amount of boost coming in 200, 300 or even 400 rpm later. When cruising on the freeway (low RPMs) or taking off with a trailer hooked up, thatís a huge difference! To get the performance he is getting, you may need to step down one or even two sizes just because of the altitude of your location.

struggle to get it spooled up?

they are brake boosting to a million pounds of boost at the line.

who cares if it takes them a month to build boost at that point

it's seriously negligible for these guys...

Seems like the diesel world likes the VGT/variable vane turbos but for some reason they are rare on gasoline? Gasoline likes the twin scroll

id bet because the diesel guys stay in their powerband forever. whereas the gas guys have such a wide RPM range.

Sounds logical

Borg Warner apparently came out with a variable twin scroll turbo a few years back limits the disadvantages of the twin scroll. Hopefully it makes it into production
