Looking for advice on trying to preserve a unicorn. I’ll soon have a 99% rust free 97 f250 crew cab 7.3 from arizona. Need to protect this thing from rotting and getting another couple of decades out of it.

Buy in the 5 gallon pale. And buy the sprayer. Do it every year. It avoids having that nasty rhino liner stuff

My truck was rotted when I got it. I guess the Ford dealer didn't up sell the under coating and triple clear coat

I would even take those fender flares off and check for rust. Chances are it's there.

I haven’t yet. It’s my father-in-laws. He bought it new and has been in Az whole life. It’s got 270k plus on it. @ctcdiesel May need help/ services in near future.

Got the truck back to Illinois on Monday. Need to undercoat with fluid film before it gets out of garage.
It’s really nice having a 45 gallon transfer tank in the bed. 4:10 gear ratio sucks on the highway but still averaged 14.6 mpg going 75.

I used fluid film for a few years. It's lanolin, also known as wool wax. Smells like a herd of sheep.


Being animal based, it will degrade over time (oxidize) and fall off. This time around I just sprayed the underside with used motor oil. That won't go away for long time.
