Question Anyone around here installing remote start systems?

I want to get my sister in law remote start for her 2015 Honda Civic. Anybody here install them on the side or can recommend a place? @JDHedman, you still doing these? Also would need to know what unit to purchase if you can assist with that as well. I like the simple lock/unlock/start/aux functionality of the Viper unit I have. Thanks!

Down here we don't use them much. No cold that's worth it if you have heated seats. Guess we could use them for the A/C but we're used to the heat so it's not a big deal to wait a minute for the car to cool off.

Had one in Amy's car and she never used it.

For cold, I can definitely see the advantage. I did not like cold mornings and cold cars.

Just FYI, with newer cars, the systems are like plug and play. You pay a little more for the convenience but you literally plug one thing into another, bam, you have a remote start. I would look into it at least. It seems like the days of solder and laying on your back are gonzo, especially for a car that was new 3yrs ago.

^^^^This.
Itís not always that simple but in a lot of newer models it literally is plugging one module into another then a reflash of the BCM at the dealer. The problem is the cost of those factory modules.

Best Buy has plug and play viper systems for like $275. That lead me to looking on Amazon. Can get something plug and play for about $120 for my car. Now that one uses the factory fob, so the range isn’t the best, but it would work. Seems the high cost comes if the car has push button start.

Here you go. This was their “recommended one”. They have one by the same brand that’s $30 cheaper. Didn’t look close enough to see what the differences were. This one said it had smartphone capabilities and only requires a ground connection.
