The controls site leader here at work has an '08 335xi. He's got the usual mods like me. We even took our cars to the track together. He's at about 62K miles, I'm at 66K now.

He has a warranty on his car...and in the last 3 months alone has had $12K in repairs. I replaced an alternator since owning my car. I have had other here and there things, but nothing like the problems he's had....although I suspect since he's solely tuning with a piggyback isn't helping either.

Do you guys know if the 2001 had Latch anchors in the backseat? The hooks buried between the cushion and backrest that child seats clip into. They were federally mandated in 2002/2003, but I don't know if BMW had them earlier.

Well this thread inspired me to make bad decisions. . I blame @Yaj Yak. Did I say don't buy a BMW with a V8? Well sort of. Not unless it has had the chain guides done and full service history(This one has that and much more). And its a M62 not that fancy new stuff which will cost you second mortgage on house to fix.

So what's been done to that one that made it so hard to pass up? And if you get bored in a few weeks, let me know

The best looking 7 series design. Always a pleasure to see one of these on the road.

Well I have a binder over 1 1/2 inches thick of receipts. Basically the full service history from start to finish. Everything has been replaced on this car. Had timing guides done , transmission was replaced with a rebuilt ZF unit, the whole cooling system was replaced about twice, including the radiator, all hoses, water pump, thermostat, expansion tank, etc. Whole suspension was replaced including the control arms, tire rods, shocks and is nicely lowered on H&R sport springs.Valve cover gaskets done, all ignition coils and spark plugs were replaced, power steering pump and hoses were done, front and rear rotors and pads were done. This is just a small list it keeps going. Owner spared no expense. Easily over 12k in receipts a majority from Motor Works in Barrington.

Now read all the above and the cost and see why I don't buy V8 Beamers

OK, so what about this guy. Ask about timing chain guides, Vanos maintenance and auto transmission service? Those seem to be the biggies.

Seems priced high for a auto 540i msport. But other then that start of the conversation. See what "Full Service" history they have. I have heard that before and it was nothing but oil changes and new tires hahah. Also check out below link.

Wheels can be changed color is more my taste. But that was more to show you that you can get a better price on one.
