Default R/T - The Top 10 Cars Most Likely to Last 200,000 Miles or More

https://www.roadandtrack.com/new-car...miles-or-more

Toyota Sequoia: 6.6 percent

According to iSeeCars, 6.6 percent of all Toyota Sequoias stay on the road for more than 200,000 miles. Even better, the Sequoia was one of the top five models to make it 300,000 miles or more in this study.

Ford Expedition: 5.4 percent

In this study, 5.4 percent of all Ford Expeditions built have survived to the 200,000 mile mark. And the Expedition was one of the top five most likely to make it to 300,000 miles.

Chevrolet Suburban: 5.2 percent

You'll start to notice a trend as you go down this list: Body-on-frame SUVs and pickups dominate the top-1o of cars that make it over 200,000 miles. The Chevy Suburban is the first GM product to make the list, with 5.2 percent of Suburbans clicking over 200,000.

Toyota 4Runner: 4.2 percent

The second Toyota to make the list, the 4Runner is the only midsize SUV to break the top-10 (the rest are all full-size). Additionally, this Toyota topped iSeeCars' list of most likely models to exceed 300,000 miles, with 0.3 percent of US-registered 4Runners surpassing that milestone.

GMC Yukon XL: 3.9 percent

Perhaps not surprising, given that the Chevy Suburban is number three on this, the mechanically-similar Yukon XL nabs fifth place among vehicles likely to exceed 200,000 miles. Around 3.9 percent of all Yukons built eventually surpass this milestone.

Chevrolet Tahoe: 3.8 percent

Hey would you look at that, another full-size Chevy makes the list! The short-wheelbase sibling to the Suburban, the Tahoe lasts beyond 200,000 miles about 3.8 percent of the time.

GMC Yukon: 2.8 percent

Rounding out the spectrum of short- and long-wheelbase Chevy and GMC full-size SUVs, the Yukon, which shares bones with the Tahoe, was found to make it past 200,000 miles about 2.8 percent of the time. The overall lesson here seems to be that the GM body-on-frame SUVs are strong and solidóthey make up four of the top 10 spots on this list.

Toyota Tacoma: 2.6 percent

The only pickup truck on this top-10 list, the venerable Tacoma was found to make it past 200,000 miles 2.6 percent of the time. Once again, the virtue of body-on-frame construction is apparent. The Tacoma also made the top-five list of vehicles likely to exceed 300,000 miles.

Toyota Avalon: 2.4 percent

The first, and only, sedan to make this list, the Avalon makes it to 200,000 miles 2.4 percent of the time. As Toyota's larger, more opulent alternative to the Camry, and the basis for the Lexus ES luxury sedan, it's not surprising that the Avalon is likely to flip the sixth digit on its odometer. And like GM, Toyota finds four of its models on the top-1o list.

Honda Odyssey: 2.4 percent

The Honda Odyssey is the only minivan to crack the top-10 list. According to iSeeCars, of all the Odysseys sold, 2.4 percent of them make it beyond 200,000 miles.

When I used to change oil for a job in college...we used to see Crown Vics/Grand Marquis/Town Cars all come in with well over 200,000 miles, with 800,000 being the most I ever saw.

Those things were beasts!

The question is how much oil will all of those Yukonís and suburbans be burning at 200,000?

Donít need to change your oil anymore if it burns off enough between changesí

what's dumb about this, is it "sells it" weird.

plenty of smaller/older vehicles will last 200k, easily, but if/when they hit something, they are totalled out so their numbers dwindle.

also consider who's driving most of the vehicles posted... soccer moms & old people. hardly getting beat on or anything.

just because there are more suburbans remaining on the road than ____ vehicle doesn't mean it's more reliable, just probably means their drivers haven't hit as much shit, or they don't total out as easily.

The Toyota Camry is LITERALLY the most reliable car in the world. Crown Vics are a solid 2nd IMO. Cabbies use them after they've been thrown out by the people after the people, after those people that bought it from auction after the police used it.

Methodology

iSeeCars.com analyzed over 13.5 million used cars sold in 2017 from model years 1981 through 2017. Models that were not in production as of the 2017 model year, heavy duty-vehicles, and models with fewer than 10,000 cars sold were excluded from further analysis. For each model, the percentage of the number of cars with at least 200,000 miles was calculated.

of course not, because who's going to sell a civic with 250k miles on "iseecars.com" or another trackable site in 2017

that shit is going on craigslist.

well and even past that, who is selling vehicles with more than 200k on them?

my work has several vehicles with well over 200k on them... when we are done with them (aka rotted out) they just get junked. not worth the time/energy to try to sell a van with 382,000 miles on it for $750.

I know the zillion bricks still on the road change hand via CL or turbobricks, plenty of them with 200k or 300k+ still change hands regularly.... Not putting those turds up on Autotrader or the like (or whatever that iseecars site is... I've never even heard of it). And pretty much all those last until they're totaled or used to make another cheapass's brick whole or until some asshole pushes some idiotic car crushing legislation.

I would be a lot more interested in seeing the mileage data from Copart or similar. Probably a good bit more accurate really, as you're seeing the vehicle at time of death. What this really tells you is that these SUVs are worth selling at 200K+ online which is likely its self an interesting data point.

My step dad just got rid of his 01 Camry with over 300K miles on it. He basically repaired everything except the engine and transmission on that thing.

Over the winter he slid and smacked a light pole. Finally gave up and got a new car.

The courier I used to use liked that era Camry because he'd get 400K out of them.
