Our '03 Town and Country with the old 3.8 made it to 200k with not many issues mechanically. Valve cover gaskets because I'm OCD and a tierod end. What did it in was rust.

I liked that van better than the 3rd and 4th gen Oddys we had.

Not to jack the thread but I can attest to the shit that is Chrysler. Had my wifes 2015 Patriot in 3 times for grinding/clunking coming from what appears to be the drivers side cv axle. Started around 17,000 miles and just had it in last week at 44,000 and they still cant "replicate the issue". Wife then drove with a mechanic and it started to grind and was told that is a normal sound because it happens to sporadically and they didnt know what it could be. Bring it back in when it does it more often. wtf? /rant

Yeah, I guess at some point then you have to choose between a working drivetrain, or stow-n-go middle seats.

Your welcome, but at the end of the day, their track record for quality is a pretty known commodity...

What ISN'T working on the drivetrain in either van? Both vans engine and trans work. My Stow-N-Go works (i used mine in the old van extensively this weekend), work also.

Either way, they're shit quality wise, but they do warranty them.

Old van: as long as I own it, if engine oil or transmission fluid touches it, Chrysler pays for it.

New van: 5 yr/100k. Chrysler pays for it.

It's just fucking frustrating. Especially after what I had to drag them through on the old van.

unless the cost of the repair outways the cost of the vehicle. then they cut you a check for book value and send you on your way.

Yea, it's getting to that point now where I am weighing whether keeping it and enjoying a free warranty (more or less), is worth having something worth a pack of Marlboro's.

You mean the ones we had in ALL the time for electrical issues, because when they did the "conversion", that company just threw screws in everywhere regardless of where wiring harnesses were in the body?

I ran when I saw a conversion van come in.

Amazing what they cost, even back in the day. I think Explorer was the bigger/biggest one at one time.

My mom had conversion vans all through our childhood. The last one my folks bought was a 1999 Dodge Ram Van with the raised roof. This thing had 2 personal flip down LCD TV's, a DVD player, skylights, heated AND cooled cup holders all around, captains chairs in the middle and a powered bench/ bed in the rear. Keep in mind this was 1999 so the LCD tvs were baller. Also something like 200 lines of resolution because again... 1999.

Slightly off topic but not really: as much as i've always loved ram trucks, when compared to ford the Ram engine options absolutely suck. The piece of crap, underpowered 3.6 is EVERYWHERE in the 1500's, and the 5.7 is a good engine but it's been around for like 13 years.

They probably spent their whole powertrain R&D budget on the ecodiesel.

the ecodiesel wasn't made/created by them though.

the 5.7 works well. so does the 6.4.

Sorry to hear man. I have a 14 300s with almost 50k. Not having any issues with my Pentastar. I have the "lifetime" Mopar warranty so hopefully I'm covered while I own it.

So it is done, Wife will pick it up tonight.

Verdict, all 4 camshafts were replaced as well as all rockers/rollers. Evidently a couple of the rockers "dropped" causing excessive wear. I'll recite the whole service description when I get it tonight.

Sorry to hear about the minivan woes. You expect a newer vehicle to be problem free.
