Project Car Ideas?

I'm convincing Eagle, my dad, to start a project car with me. I went with the basic suggestion of a fox body, and with his memories of his Capri, he said its too boring, basic, and easy.

That being said, what suggestions for a project car do you guys have for us?

To one last project before college!

Get a 240 that maybe already has a swap but is being sold because the owner doesn't want to finish it. Maybe needs wiring or a few parts, etc.

Or get a Honda and an eBay turbo kit. Cheap but a hell of a lot of fun.

High mileage fbody is an obvious choice.

1g eclipse or talon would be tits.

Bru 05-29-2017 09:22 PM

Sup, Casey.

What do you want to get out of the car? Weekend cruiser? Handling? Pin-you-in-the-seat acceleration?

Mook 05-29-2017 09:23 PM

Also, not sure if you're willing to share or not, but what kind of budget? That will help alot.

Bru 05-29-2017 09:28 PM

I think a late 70s, early 80s G Body with LSX and T56 swap, plus throw the UMI handling catalog at it, would be tits.

Not exactly looking for a drag car just something faster and louder than the 330. Not exactly a challenging task, but definitely a speed based car.

280zx, but I love the g body idea stated above. C4 or c5 vette.

Pretty small budget unless I end up selling the bmw.

Probably staying under $5,000.

330xi 05-29-2017 09:35 PM

@Eagle

Mook 05-29-2017 09:36 PM

Under 5k...alright. I say find someone dumping off a 1g. Problem is going to be finding one with a decent body.

Maybe a lt1 camaro?

Buy the rx7 and 5.3 being sold on here.

Or buy a k5 blazer and make your father envious.

Mook 05-29-2017 09:40 PM

Ooooh, good point.

ilikemtb999 05-29-2017 09:41 PM

T56 is going to take up some budget. I don't know how easily a t5 could be adapted but they're dirt cheap in comparison and a light car like that would probably be fine.

Mook 05-29-2017 09:42 PM

I almost say find a GSR 5spd, buy up an eBay turbo kit and have some fun.

Mook 05-29-2017 09:45 PM

Then again.. Honda people overprice their cars like crazy.

Don't do it. It's a trap.

Free it'd just cost you time and gas money.
