help with blue tooth settings on new Civic

So I bought this 2017 Civic. It has blue tooth and apple car play. FYI, I have a I phone 7.

So basically whenever I'm hooked up to the blue tooth, I don't get any audible notifications from any apps. I do get visible notifications but sometimes I'm not looking at my phone so I will miss the notification. Hence, I would like to have the audible noise.

Things I've noticed:

Without blue tooth on, I get audible notification no problem.

When I'm in the middle of a phone call with blue tooth, I get the audible notification though the blue tooth. Really weird..

Things I've done:

Checked the sittings on the Civic, nothing really there.
Change the setting on my phone in the blue tooth setting to "show notification" no help.

Any ideas?

Correct. I haven't even connected with the USB. When I charge the phone I use the normal cig lighter for charging.

Yep that is how my 2013accord does it. If you want the audible on the phone you have to disconnect the Bluetooth or listen to music from your phone through Bluetooth

I would use that or at least try it. It will route GPS/text/etc through your screen on your car and it is a lot more seamless.

Not really a fan of CarPlay. I have navigation in my car, listen to SirusXM, and use Amazon Music which I don't think is supported on CarPlay.

So, this did work. However, I noticed every time you connect or disconnect your phone to blue tooth you have to change the setting on the blue tooth to "Iphone" is there a setting to keep this permanently on?
