JK... :s00ls:

I don't have one but what ride are you hiding from us?

Lol...I wish. My old man has a 2012 S550. Was in the dealer for an oil change and they quoted him over $7k for a bunch of crap (brakes, belt, coolant flush, power steering flush, etc.) that they said he should do...he called me up and I said walk out immediately. A lot of it sounded like legit stuff, but prices were insane. He wants to take it to a legit mechanic to get a second opinion, and if its still that expensive he said he'll just trade it in...lol.

Any good mechanic can do brakes, coolant, etc.

How many miles are on the car? My Infiniti service advisor is always trying to push. For example, last time I was in he said I needed a brake flush and it was roughly $300. I laughed and said that the tech didn't even look at the fluid as I just did a flush myself no more than 5K miles ago.

I have the same experience at my Infiniti dealer.

Has around 60k miles, and I don't think he's ever done any of that crap so I'm sure it is due. Apparently needs a new strut and centrifuge cover, which is why I figured a Mercedes specialist would be best.

I'm convinced that the techs simply check boxes based on mileage and don't actually examine stuff.

convinced?

it ACTUALLY is what they do.

part of the reason I left the dealer life.. too many customers mad at ME because i suggested it to them when they already had it done elsewhere... (im not a tech but i am expected to trust them....)

It was; needed a new air strut, new centrifuge cover, all new pads and rotors, new brake pad sensors (didn't even know those existed!), new serpentine belt, coolant fluid flushed/replaced, power steering fluid flushed/replaced, fuel injection system cleaning.

He said fuck it and traded it for a new S550...LOL!
