What old car/project would you bring back into your life? i.e. Das

So since Das has gotten an old ranger project again, it made me think about any of my old cars that I would like to do again. Of course I have talked about doing another Lumina. This time would be RWD and LSx somehow. But the other car I want to buy and do up again is my old beater Olds.

It's a 300 dollar 1991 Oldsmobile 98. 3800 series one and front wheel drive. I beat the piss out of this thing. And it was sooo rotted that you could stick your hand under the car on the outside and make the passenger seat move. But I loved that thing. I always pictured it on air bags. Since the rockers and front and rear bumpers all seem to be on the same line I think it would be sick all laid out. One day

I have a few that come to mind... Most recent is my '87 Suburban. It's still locally owned by a guy that doesn't drive it in the winter as well, so, it's just as much of a salt virgin as it was when I owned it. I've tried buying it back twice now, still won't sell.

Wish I would've held on to my 5.0 a bit longer. Lost interest in the car because I didn't have time to drive it and it just sat, but, having something quick and new/reliable was a nice change of pace.

Another one that was close to being done, another "lost interest" was the GVR4. Turbo, rear end and trans away from being damn respectable.

This thread makes me happy :)

I've done a LOT of various projects over the years, and worked on a LOT of different cars, but I genuinely had trouble sleeping the night before picking up the two trucks...

I never really got over getting rid of my last ranger... The fact that I could put my grille in the bed with my tools, chairs, and tires, drive up to the dragstrip, Setup 'camp', and then go race all day, grill burgers and have a cooler full of drinks was just amazing....

Sadly I don't have any pictures of them but I miss a few of my old cars, I could fix the basic mechanical's back then but I could never get them just right or finished. I was too poor back then to ever give them what I wanted.

67 Mustang, bought it when I was 15 and didn't get to drive it till I was 18 I was doing a full restore on it but never finished the final bodywork and paint before I started driving it daily. That basically trashed everything I did and I got tired of working on it so I sold it.

70 Buick Skylark (GS Clone) it was a bowtie motor with 13:1 compression and a hot cam, I screwed that motor up badly by beating the ever living piss out of it and putting in 87 octane cause I couldn't afford race fuel to get me home. After I finish the Nova I'll be looking for a clean shell to work on and put this car back in my inventory. Most likely a restomod pro-touring setup LS/4L80 etc.

I regret parting out and selling my Mustang. When a piston popped at the track, I had enough with the costs into the build and now the rebuild.

Wish I would have kept it and rebuilt it without the turbo kit on it. I enjoyed it N/A just as much and would have done more suspension work and potentially boost (centri) again in the future. Turbo kit was just a cluster...
