Default Evo X inspection

Took a 2014 Evo GSR for a test drive today, if I wanted to get the car inspected would a regular mechanic suffice? Or do places like AMS do quick inspections to tell me if I'm buying someone's beat to hell problem child?

I can put you in touch with R&D (my tuner / shop). They can look it over for you. They're in Carol Stream.

I'm looking at that car as well as a 2017 WRX, so if I take the next step on the Evo I'll get that info from you. Thanks!

I'd go for the WRX, Evo X's are garbage. Good concept, shitty manufacturer/parts.

Blah, it sucks they're a maintenance/ownership headache. The WRX is so soft compared with the Evo X. The Subie is a nice street car, but the Evo is really really good on a circuit.

Like I said, great concept, terrible execution. It was a monster on the track when I owned mine, but EVERYTHING on those cars breaks and they're expensive AF to fix.

Yeah I slept on it, and the WRX makes a lot more sense for an everyday car. If it was my second car, it would have been Evo all day.

I'm not sure if you're working with a Scubie dealer yet but the Subaru dealer on Grand is great to deal with. Damien is a car guy and a manager there if you're interested he can give you a good deal. He brought out a white one to cruise one night and it was sick! I'd go with a Scubie over the Evo from a maintenance standpoint.

That's actually the dealer I've been talking to, going back most likely tomorrow to hash out numbers on the WRX. They've been very helpful so far, hopefully they don't try screwing me on my trade in...

Oh come on, I know I'm not getting KBB or anything. I traded in a car for 6000 once, they wouldn't budge on it saying they were going to lose all this money, and then they listed it for 13k. Never again

What are you trading in?

I've had good luck selling company cars back to same-make dealers. Many will buy back without a trade like CarMax, and there's also room for negotiating. Last week, I took a 2015 Honda Fit with 15,000 miles to a Honda dealership and they quoted me $13,500. I countered at $15,000 and they wrote me a check for $14,500. It's more of a pain to shop around, but ended up being worthwhile. They cut a check in a few days, though that car also didn't have a lien on it.

Car from my sig, 2016 CX-5 GT. Tomorrrow I was planning on going the old "Take it to Carmax and use it as leverage" route. The other advantage I have is that I absolutely don't NEED this car, I just wanted something a little more fun as my DD. So if they try taking me for a ride on it, I have no problem walking.

SUVs are hot right now, and I wouldn't be surprised if a Mazda dealership were willing to give you more money. They could take that car and put it through their CPO program and ask more money than a non-CPO car. If they can ask more, they might have more room to pay for your CX-5.
