Good to know someone else made this. Been wanting to get/make a workbench to put in my extra bedroom for all my reloading but didn't want to look like a sally. :mamoru:

I'm going to build one in the basement for the kid and I to work on the guns. No more kitchen table. Plus I need a vice at times.

I wan to build in some storage for cleaning supplies and tools.

All my junk is in the workshop next to my garage where I built benches on the wall but I want to turn that into a storage area (sleds, mower, quad, etc) so I'm bringing all my reloading stuff inside the house and removing all the stuff I need. I'll probably just be able to tear it all down (all held together with screws) and rebuild it into a shorter workshop for inside the house.

People basically give away old cabinets on CL if you don't have some already. I split a set of like eight 4' ones with my father in law that I got for $50. Then menards has random cheap 4' counter tops for like $10 each. They make great tops because super easy to clean up grease and oil and they don't stain.

mine is 42" high, 31" deep, and 10' long.

steel top 3/16" thick, was purchased 10' x 38" flat.. then i had to bring it somewhere to have them fold it 2.5" as a backsplash, and 4.5" down for the front where it bolts through the entire structure. it was $80 to bend the metal, and about 130 for the metal itself.

4x4 legs and "frame" for the top.. then covered short ways in 2x10, then the steel went over that.

I wanted to at least get it started and together.

To do:
- add some kind of lighting.
- add bottom supports and shelf
- brace the inside of the top (it's currently hollow) and the shelf.
-build shields against the wall.

For lights i want to do some kind of overhead LED's to just make it nice and bright down there. Any ideas??

I built two across the back of the garage using 4x4's as legs and ran 2x12's for the top and covered it with road signs I was given from a local sign maker. Was able to bolt everything down and the vise is solid for anything I need to lean on for bending etc. I had my Trans on it twice and never had it creak or any issues. To buy something this solid would be big $
