Looking to color match my grill surround and trim. Its plastic that is chrome plated. I scuffed it with 320 grit sand paper and painted it with and without primer. I used summit white paint in a spray can from nappa. The paint comes right off if I run my finger nail over it. I dont see how it will last when I go to scrub bugs off.Should I try and sand blast the the chrome of first? Should I used krylon fushin for plastic? Whats the right way to do this?

I have tried painting over chrome and it is almost impossible. I have even asked my paint rep about painting over chrome and he said that with out a doubt it will chip and no warranty.

I tried to sand chrome with 180 grit, then epoxy prime, base coat clear coat an it chipped badly right down to the chrome. So I threw that $600 grille in the garbage and had to buy another.

I don't know what to tell ya.
