Caddy needs to outsource their interior design and material sourcing. If you look at the points tally, the interior lost a lot of points. Could have been a first place win actually.

Why's it shocking? BMW builds a good overall product and Caddy & MB are still playing catch up. Performance stats aren't they only thing that's being evaluated. If so, the V would be the winner. GM put all their eggs in the performance basket and neglected other areas.

That's primarily because other manufactures have reversed engineered BMW's to make their respective cars drive like BMW's. GM has stated this publicly.

A big reason I think the m3 is still better is in the design itself. The front bumper has a lot of interesting details in the front from the grill going into the lights and the geometry of that lower intake area. It's very modern and original without being lexus ugly. You might call it busy but they put a lot of attention to detail in these things and I think it pays off in this segment where the little details count. Cadillac on the other hand has some nice proportions, but the design is still fairly simple and conservative. It's hard to establish yourself as a leader if your car looks behind in the times.
